CMA Senior Wind Ensemble
CMA's premier wind ensemble is the Senior Wind Ensemble. Initially taking its current form to participate at Expo 2020 Dubai, the ensemble has participated in many local, regional and international performances to an incredibly high standard. Recent highlights include an International tour to Walt Disney World in Florida, where they worked with a Disney Musical Director on a Soundtrack Project. They have also participated in a regional residential musical trip with internationally renowned conductor Hughina Naylor. In the lat year, they have performed at the Grand Opening of the Disney Store in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, as part of the UAE Government's National Experts Programme in addition to CMA Performances and an outstanding performance on the main performance stage at Sikka Art and Design Fair. The ensemble is made up of young musicians from CMA and beyond with a real passion for quality music making. Members of the local musical community also come and support this ensemble in order to help them achieve the highest possible level of performance at every opportunity.
Day and Time: Sundays from 1:45pm - 3:15pm starting on Sunday 31st August
Venue: Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children - Multi Purpose Room
Level: ABRSM Grade 5+ on any woodwind/ brass or percussion instrument.
Instruments: Woodwind (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone) Brass (French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Baritone, Tuba) Percussion (Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Drumkit*, Timpani) *Drumkit players will be placed on a variety of percussion instruments, and will not necessarily be playing the drumkit in this ensemble.
Cost: Dhs 350 per term.
