We aim to collect only information relevant to the purpose for which it is needed. Please avoid providing sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry or service.
3. How we receive information
We receive information when you contact us, complete forms, register for lessons or events, make purchases, apply for a role or otherwise use our services.
We may also receive relevant information from parents or guardians, partner schools, teachers, examination boards, event partners and recruitment referees.
If you provide information about another person, you should be authorised to do so and make them aware of this policy where appropriate.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and arrange lessons, bookings and services.
- Manage registration, scheduling, attendance and communication.
- Provide teaching and support students’ musical development.
- Arrange examinations, ensembles, competitions and performances.
- Process purchases, invoices, payments and refunds.
- Coordinate lessons and activities with partner schools.
- Support safety and safeguarding, and meet applicable legal obligations.
- Consider employment applications.
- Maintain our website and systems, resolve problems and prevent misuse.
- Send information about CMA activities and offers where we have the necessary permission.
Where consent is required, we request it for the relevant purpose. We may also process information where necessary to provide an agreed service or meet a legal obligation, as permitted by applicable law.
Providing information needed for a service is separate from agreeing to optional marketing or promotional use of photographs.
5. Children and young people
Many CMA services involve children. We seek information and permissions from parents or guardians where required and limit the information used to what is appropriate for the activity.
Parents and guardians may contact us about information concerning their child. We may need to verify their identity and authority before responding.
Relevant student information may be shared with authorised teachers, staff, schools and examination or event partners where necessary to deliver an activity, support the student or meet another lawful purpose. Sensitive support and safety information requires particular care.
6. Photographs, video and audio
During registration, students or their parents or guardians are asked whether they agree to the use of their or their child’s image on CMA’s website and social-media pages when participating in CMA classes and events. The form provides separate Yes and No choices.
CMA will respect the choice recorded. Where permission is given, images may be used within the scope of that consent. Uses outside that scope, including other types of recording or promotional use, will require separate permission where applicable.
You may change your preference or withdraw consent for future use by contacting operations@cmadubai.com. We will update your preference and take reasonable steps to remove relevant material from channels we control. We cannot guarantee removal of copies independently shared by others.
Recordings required for examinations or other activities may be subject to separate permissions and the relevant organiser’s privacy notice.
7. Sharing information
Where relevant and lawful, we may share information with:
- Authorised CMA staff and teachers.
- Partner schools involved in a student’s lessons or activities.
- Examination boards, including ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool and MTB.
- Venues and other partners supporting performances, competitions or events.
- Providers of website hosting, forms, business systems, communications, online retail and payment services.
- Professional advisers or authorities where disclosure is necessary and lawful.
We limit sharing to information appropriate for the purpose. Where providers process information on our behalf, we require appropriate confidentiality and data-protection arrangements.
Schools, examination boards, payment providers and other organisations may also use information independently under their own privacy notices.
8. Website, cookies and external services
Necessary cookies support website functions and remember your privacy choices. You can use the website, send an enquiry and follow links to our shop without accepting optional analytics, advertising or social-content cookies.
Our cookie controls provide separate choices for Google Analytics (website-usage measurement), the Meta/Facebook pixel (page-view measurement and advertising) and Instagram embeds (social content). These optional services are not loaded by our website until you enable the relevant category. You can accept or reject all optional categories, or choose them individually.
Use Cookie settings in the website footer to change your choices at any time. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie for up to six months. Withdrawing permission stops further use by these website controls and removes applicable first-party analytics or advertising cookies where possible. It does not undo information already sent or remove cookies held on other providers’ domains. Your browser settings provide additional cookie controls.
We also use external services for requested features, including Zoho forms, Google Slides presentations and the Shopify gift-card and Take Note shopping services. Loading or interacting with these services may disclose technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to the relevant provider. Our website cookie choices do not control every cookie or technology used within these external services or on their separate websites; their own privacy notices and available privacy controls apply.
Restricting cookies in your browser may affect some forms or shopping features. External websites linked from our site are responsible for their own privacy practices. We encourage you to read their notices before providing personal information.
9. Marketing preferences
Where we have the necessary permission, we may send information about CMA lessons, programmes, events and offers.
You can ask us to stop marketing communications by using an available unsubscribe option or contacting us. This does not prevent essential messages about an existing lesson, booking, payment or service.
We may retain a limited record of your preference so that we continue to respect it.
10. International processing
Some service providers may store or process information outside the UAE.
Where this occurs, we will use the safeguards or other permitted arrangements required by applicable law. You may contact us for further information about relevant overseas processing.
11. Keeping and protecting information
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide our services and meet applicable legal obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. Access is limited to people who need the information for their work.
No electronic system or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If a personal-data incident occurs, we will assess it, take appropriate action and make notifications where required by applicable law.
12. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may request:
- Information about how we use your personal data.
- Access to your personal information.
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion or restriction of processing.
- Transfer of eligible information.
- Withdrawal of consent where processing relies on it.
You may also object to relevant processing or raise concerns about automated decisions where applicable.
Please send requests to operations@cmadubai.com. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and understand your request. We will respond within the applicable legal timeframe and explain any lawful limitations.
You may also raise a complaint with the competent UAE data-protection authority.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our services, practices or legal requirements. The current version will appear on our website with its effective date.
Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we will provide additional notice or seek fresh consent where required.
