Young Musician Competition

The CMA Young Musician Competition is a celebration of performance and musicianship at all levels, which encourages commitment and rewards excellence. Participants gain invaluable performance experience and benefit from feedback from a team of experienced adjudicators.

The competition has two tracks: Rock and Pop and Classical.

For information about the Rock and Pop track, please click here.

Information on the Classical Track can be found here.

There are two rounds to the competition; the Class Heats, followed by the Level Awards. The Class Heats are open to all ages and abilities and are as inclusive as possible because we believe that music is for everyone and it’s never too early to start performing. All entrants will receive written feedback from a respected adjudicator and a certificate of participation. The top performances from each Class Heat will be given a gold award (silver and bronze awards may also be awarded at the adjudicator's discretion). Eligible gold winners progress to compete for their Level Award. In the Classical competition, Initial entrants do not compete in the Level Awards.

The Level Awards Final takes place before a panel of judges, with the winners of each level taking home the CMA Young Musician Level Award Trophy. Note that the competition is open to students who have lessons with a CMA Specialist at our Centre or in one of our partner schools.
