Community Brass Day

A full day event, students join us from 10am to 4:30pm students will learn skills to improve their brass playing abilities, before performing to family and friends at the end of the day. In past years we have welcomed Australian trumpeter Greg Spence to run a series of masterclasses, and enjoyed the talents of locally based 10 piece ensemble MOD Brass. As well as ensemble playing, past events have included a musical treasure hunt, making brass instruments from hosepipes and funnels, and performing the world premier of the specially commissioned piece “Spooked!” for mass brass ensemble, by Dubai based composer Joanna Marsh. Always a hit with our brass students, the Bonanza is a highlight of the year for students and teachers alike!

This year we are delighted to welcome Crossbones Trombones, from Belgium to be the clinicians for our Community Brass Day, taking place on Saturday 18th November from 10am, with a performance at 4pm at CMA in the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children in Dubai.

Participation in Community Brass Day costs AED 200, which includes all musical resources. Players should be at ABRSM or Trinity Grade 1 standard as a minimum, however the most advanced students will also be catered for throughout the event. Students are divided into groups by age and ability, to ensure that the materials and activities on the day are suitably challenging and enjoyable.
