Stephen  Jeffery

Stephen Jeffery is a graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, London.  During his Conservatoire years, Stephen trained with international artists Adrian Clarke and Russell Smythe and sung in masterclasses with Sir Thomas Allen, Sarah Walker and Richard Van Allen. He took a number of roles, including, Ottone, L'Iconronazione di Poppea; Haraschta, The Cunning Little Vixen; Apollo, Egisto; and Aeneas, Dido & Aeneas. He also won both the English Song Prize and the Mario Lanza Opera Prize.

He has worked as a professional opera singer throughout the UK and Europe for nearly a decade, first as a baritone and more recently as a tenor, for companies including Grange Park Opera (Chorus), Blackheath Halls Opera (Schaunard, La Boheme), Wexford Festival Opera (Marco, Gianni Schicchi) and Opera de Baugé (Garibaldo, Rodelinda; Masetto, Don Giovanni). As a concert artist, Stephen has worked throughout Europe, America and Asia, both as a soloist and choral singer, with works including St. Matthew Passion, Bach; Carmina Burana, Orff; Dona Nobis Pacem, Vaughan Williams; Requiem Fauré.

Stephen is an inspiring and highly effective teacher. His ability to teach students as individuals in a wide variety of musical styles has led to him becoming one of London’s most sought after young teachers, with students enjoying success not only at ABRSM Grade level, but also in professional classical, musical theatre and popular music circles.
