Profile Picture - Ms. Angharad Maxwell

Angharad graduated in July 2014 with an MA from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, studying ‘Cello with Kathryn Price. Having grown up in Cardiff, Angharad has been an active musician in the area for many years, both as a performer and a teacher.

During her studies at the RWCMD, Angharad performed regularly as principal cello of the college orchestras and gained valuable experience working under conductors including Carlo Rizzi and Charles Mackerras. She was fortunate enough to participate in a BBC National Orchestra of Wales side by side project, performing under the batons of Sian Edwards and Karl Jenkins. Angharad was also involved in numerous opera productions, including The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen and The Rape of Lucretia, and participated in Masterclasses with Guy Johnston, Paul Watkins, Leonid Gorokhov and Matthew Sharpe.

A native Welsh speaker, Angharad has been involved in a number of Welsh-language productions, including Welsh-language opera company Opra Cymru’s ‘Eugene Onegin’ and Welsh-language TV Channel S4C’s music programme ‘Rhydian’.

Angharad is passionate about sharing her love for the ‘Cello with learners of all ages and abilities, particularly when bringing classical music to new audiences. Cello is her first instrument but she also teaches piano.
